and even MORE news from Adrian Belew.  Man has he been a busy boy lately!

Adrian writes in his blog that he will release the long awaited collection of "Dust" as downloads on his website.

Read more here: http://elephant-blog.blogspot.com/2007/01/roland-roland-roland-keep-them-doggies.html

A while back Adrian had plans to release Dust as a boxed set, he didn't mention if he still has intends to do that.  An observant fan and soccer nerd posed that question to Mr. Belew via the comments section of his blog.  No reply yet.  Grin

I forgot all about that box.  As I remember, there was talk of some outtakes from Beat being included.

They've got to be kidding.

NY Post:

"Tuesday's launch of Vista will be hard to escape in New York, where the company and its ad agency, McCann Erickson, have been busy staging one of the biggest outdoor campaigns ever.

To kick things off, Microsoft is planning a one-of-a-kind digital extravaganza in the heart of Times Square tonight: The flashy displays on the Nasdaq, Reuters and Toys 'R' Us buildings, along with several others, will all tout Vista at the same time.

The company is also taking over many of the static billboards in the bustling area, including a big cluster at 42nd Street. Vista signs will stretch downtown to SoHo and the Meatpacking District, where people will witness a "human billboard."

Sixteen dancers will scale five stories to create a moving display on the Terminal Building on 11th Avenue between 27th and 28th streets. The dancers will move to music composed by guitar virtuoso Robert Fripp and inspired by the new startup sound for Vista."

I guess not, pics of the dancers if you must.

I don't see anything wrong with this.  It's work, and it will in no way compromise his other work.

Wrong?  No, certainly not wrong...but just look at that photo, a bunch of spandex-clad Spider Men scaling the side of a NYC building in an acrobatic way, for the purposes of advertising a product...and doing all of this to the music of Robert Fripp?

Maybe it's just that I haven't had any coffee yet this morning, but this just seems astonishingly bizzarre to me.  Not wrong!  Just very, very weird.

I was actually responding to SE's post, but maybe that's what he meant too.

Weird?  Can't argue with that ....

As many of you know, I have a habit of playing Crim for my students and letting them write comments about it.  Here's the gem of this semester's batch:

(She's talking about Frame by Frame, here)
"I've never heard King Crimson before today.  I didn't really like it but I don't know why because they were obviously talented musicians.  Maybe part of the reason I didn't like King Crimson was because of the singer's voice; at times it seemed like he was straining to hit some notes"

So, has anybody purchased the first dust track, "Peas" from Adrianbelew.net?  The free sample is very ... interesting ...
Also, see the note on dgmlive that King Crimson has a myspace page.  Those of you with pages may want to get themselves linked up - be an early Friend!
