The topic about Eno and Todd made me think of this- honest!

It's a tough call, Bowie, Bolan, Eno, Ant? Repeat that ten times-fast! It's danceable!

Ant was a self proclaimed randy, dandy highway man but Eno looked pretty fetching in feather boa's, sans eyebrows, makeup glowing in the stage lights...

I vote for Bowie.

Write-in vote for Freddie Mercury, just 'cause I thought his omission from the choices was so glaring.

If I picked one from the list, it'd be Bowie.

This is an excellent poll and a tough one, too!

Of course I chose that gorgeous boa wearing Marc Bolan.  While Bowie was in-your-face, over-the-top glam, Bolan wore his glam subtly.   The gorgeous locks, eyeliner and gentle voice of this siren send me.    His early demise is a heartbreaking chapter in the glam story.

I was dancing when I was twelve
I was dancing when I was aaah
I danced myself right out the womb
Is it strange to dance so soon
I danced myself right out the womb

I was dancing when I was eight
Is it strange to dance so late
I danced myself into the tomb
Is it strange to dance so soon
I danced myself into the tomb

Tricky question. I voted for Mick Jagger, because while he may not have had the wildest wardrobe or the prettiest face, he surely has the biggest...ego...

Gotta go with the authority here.

Boy George (from article dated March 26): "Hang on, who f*****g made Elton John the headmaster and who f*****g made Madonna the queen?" *

Uh, Boy (from article dated March 14): "Elton John is like our headmaster, the grand old dame of pop, with a beautiful voice but living in an ornate bubble, full of fresh flowers, surrounded by people who nod and laugh at everything he says, and he doesn't have a sense of humour." **

Abs, I was going to quote "Cosmic Dancer" as well, but I had to listen to Electric Warrior to gain inspiration before posting anything at all.  I was the original MB voter!     Either way, that song is definitely a giveaway.  Smiley

In the write-in candidate section, I'd suggest Peter Gabriel.  I know, not as glam as others, but he definitely never lost his taste for costumes and stage shows, even until today.  Okay, his costumes aren't nearly as fruity as in the 70s, but the shows just rock!

Its a close call, but I've gotta go with the thin white duke. He's been glam since I was a wee lad, without going through his tough guy punk phase as have others.
Honorable mention for a dandy not aging gracefully into an elder statesman: Gary Glitter. From glam to slammer. Stay away from the kiddies Gary.

Freddie Mercury - damn you for beating me to the punch, Chip. He made merely over-the-top look stultifyingly normal.

Nods also to Bowie and Elton John. (What, no Wakeman on the list?)

A write in vote for Grampa Steven Tyler.  May he continue to wear the black fingernail polish and eyeliner long after he needs a walker on stage.

Yeah, scream with me, scream for the year
scream for the laughter, scream for the tear
scream with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away

Scream on, scream on, scream on scream until your face turns blue!

Bryan Ferry of course!

Just look at him holding that car door open for Amanda Lear and her panther.
