Apparently some folks at the Onion really hate Gray's Anatomy. There's stuff to agree and disagree with (I'm lukewarm on the bits & pieces of the show I've seen myself), but I thought it was pretty funny regardless of opinion.

And for a more important piece of Crystal Bucket news, something else I wasn't sure would ever see the light of day finally made it...

While I don't hate myself enough to actually watch the academy awards, I'm happy to see that Forest Whitaker won.  I've always admired his work as an actor.

I am also happy that An Inconvenient Truth won for best Documentary.

I don't hate myelf enough to watch the Oscars, but I love my wife enough to accompany her, and surprise, surprise,t I thought the Oscar broadcast was excellent.

First time ever.

Ellen Degeneres, who at best rises to the level of annoyance, hit
*exactly* the right tone, and was actually funny. Giving her screenplay
to Scorcese, asking Spielberg to take her picture with Clint...

The opening film by Errol Morris was perfect.

About f*ckin' time Marty got his statue.

The Pilobolus intermissions were clever.

Based on just the Scotland trailer, 'm sure Forrest Whittaker deserved his, but next year, Tha Acadamay
*must* give Peter O'Toole a Lifetime Achievement award. Hell, he
deserves an Oscar for 'The Stuntman' alone, let alone 'The Lion in
Winter', and, oh, that desert thingy...

I forget what else, but we were just sitting there with our jaws agape,
saying, 'My god, this is actually good'.

YMMV.

**** Edit: I'm told Peter O'Toole has already been given a LAA. Hell, give him another.

I couldn't be bothered. But the Mistress did call me into the living room at one point for the live sound-effects dubbing sequence, which was pretty impressive.

It's meaningless, in a way, because Raging Bull and Goodfellas' reputations weren't hurt by the Oscars snubbing him for a pair of actors-playing-directors, but it's human to want recognition when it's deserved, and I'm really happy he's final got his.

I agree: nothing against Forrest Whittaker, he's a great actor, but I would have picked Peter O'Toole.

Other than that, I didn't really care, but I do find the whole spectacle amusing--it's the only awards show I watch.

So does anyone watch Lost?  Did Locke really leave the show?  What is with the Others, anyway?   And if they abandoned their little compound, shouldn't the survivors at least move into the houses instead of living on the beach?

Who's excited about the Sopranos starting on Sunday?

The others were not really there at all... neither was locke... it turns out that terrorists on the plane put a hallucinogenic substance in the passengers orange juice... this whole thing has been some sort of group hallucination.... They will be landing in the US next episode.

Yes, not sure(but i dont think so), dont trust the others, see previous answer.
and oh my god yes. Betting action very heavy on who will get whacked in the next 9 episodes.
Also excited about Entourage coming back. "I played golf and I shopped, but its not like it sounds."

I hope AJ gets whacked, I never could stand that kid!  Don't you think Christopher is going to get it though?  Or is that too obvious?   Meadow would be a good candidate, too.  My big question is:  Is Tony going to repent by the end of the show?

Good explanation of the Others, Guru!

I still think the only theory that holds all of Lost together is "Hurly's still in the nuthouse".

I'm also pulling for AJ to get clipped. That boy needs to learn from consequences.
