Saz, love the new house.
COOL old fixture gadgets. There's a guy in Gonzales TX (about 75 miles from here) that scavenges and resells antique fixtures and has a collection of a bazillion cut glass doorknobs.

Have you made noises with a properly held plectrum in that attic yet? It has definite ballroom potential.

Um, note that the attic is, at present, un-insulated.

Note also that it is February.

Furthermore, note that the house is located in northern Illinois.

In short: hell no, I haven't taken my guitar up there.  I went up there to snap the photo, then scurried back down to the relative toastiness of the 55-degree house.  But, a ballroom...a total of 7 total bedrooms and 4-and-a-half baths...two kitchens and two dining rooms...a big veggie garden...within walking distance of the town square of a community that appreciates local music...jeez, sounds kinda like a Kcrafty Kcommune to me.

A field trip to Gonzales sounds like fun...

I know he can be a bit gloomy at times, but am I right in finding Nadim's latest blog entry a little worrying?

I missed the first part of his (now deleted) Conflict of Terminology post, and can only guess at what has been "redacted", but even without that info it still doesn't paint a happy picture IMO.

I talked to him about a week and a half ago when he called to help me put up the picture of the latest member of the CJ3 over at our site.  He told me he is moving back to Germany and while he did seem a little fed up with U.S. Immigrations he was still upbeat and positive about the move.  He promised to touch base with an address etc when he is settled.  He's in a transitional state with very little internet connectivity and/or phone service thanks to Comcast but otherwise sounded just like the Nadim I know and love.

Nadim....if you are reading this, will you check in with everyone here and give us an update?  If we don't hear from him soon I'll give him a call....

Nadim- be well. We miss you. We're all your friends, so let us help in whatever way we may. Feel free to call me anytime. BTW, I'm sure that the phone number that I have for you is way out of date.

Scorchy, from the off white, gray white dark light of the Pacific Northwest, the colours of your landscapes are totally penetrating and intense. I love it! I remember the sun. It was yellow and warm. Wish I were there too but at least I'll have the sun of the the AB3's to warm myself by tonight.

Cubs tickets go on sale day after tomorrow.  Spring Training is under way.  My seed order arrived yesterday, and it's just about time to set up the shelves and grow lights for starting the tomato and pepper seeds.  7 varieties of tomato and 14 different hot peppers!  Maybe spring will come someday after all.

Is that zero in the namby pamby metric system or good old American freeze your tongue to the flagpole zero?

And do remember to keep you peppers very segregated or your sweet banana peppers will turn into Sweet Baba?eros.

Definite congrats. Portland is one of my favorite places, and if forced to leave the malarial swamp/sauna I live in currently, it would be high on the list.

Have you been to Powell's books yet?

A super cool place. But dont take credit cards or checkbooks with you, only as much cash as you are planning to spend.

My last visit I had to by a large duffel bag to carry home 70 lbs of books.

Pure American 0.  Actually, Sarah is generous.  With wind chills it's been double digits below zero.

Anyone who thinks wind chill doesn't count has never felt the winds of Lake Michigan as they speed across the unprotected flatlands of Northern Illinois.

Thanks for the comments Mark. My gf said that was nice and I told her yeah he's a nice guy, then I showed her your AB3 poster and she said he's on something (I didn't think it was necessary to say no that's just his artistic sensibility, lol). I would have had a lot more colors to share but I forgot my camera when, after taking those pics of the poppies and driving for miles on a rough dirt road, we hiked into this very cool canyon I discovered by studying topo maps that has some fantastic pink, orange and purple rocks.

Hey, Mark, you know what else is amazing?  Your photos!  You got me all excited.  Two weeks!  Less than, actually ...

Holy shit! Congrats, S, and the names are perfect. Let me know as soon as there's out-of-state shipping, even if it's just on cookies.
