Not together, unfortunately, but both are coming to Dallas in September.  Orphaned Land is touring with Katatonia, about whom I know nothing, and Slayer is touring with Megadeth and Anthrax.  If my October 4 trial settles, I may be able to take in both shows.

Never heard them personally, but my younger and cooler nephews dig Katatonia.
May have to take them to those shows.

And gotta dig Orphaned Land, any band with credits like this:
Kobi Farhi - leading chants, growls, narrations, choir & backing vocals
Uri Zelha - electric & acoustic bass
Yossi Sassi Sa'aron - electric & classic guitars, saz, bouzouki, chumbush, choir vocals & piano
Matti Svatizky - electric & acoustic guitars

A metal band with chants, growls, saz and bouzouki. I'm sure the saz and bouzouki are tuned down 3 octaves.

Yeah, I'd definitely pick that show. Middle-eastern folk metal is much more unique than guitar-driven thrash.

Katatonia is basically the second most depressing metal band out there. They do more straightforward downbeat-melodic stuff, like Floyd or Blackfield with a seriously suicidal edge. I'd go to see them too, but the main draw would be Orphaned Land. Wonder if they're coming anywhere near here?

Ah, thanks. That's vacation week, so it'll depend on whether I'm in town or not.... hhhmmmmmmm....

Anyway, curious to hear what you think of either of these shows if you make it.

Bailiff: Court is now in session.
Chip: Your Honor, I request a recess for a few days, I have to go see Fuckin SLAYER.
Judge: Dude!!!! We are in recess until Monday. Got any extra tickets?

I know, not in Texas. More likely to be held in contempt as a satanist.
