In a thread over at Progressive Ears about KC at the Nokia, Dave G brings up the "what is KC doing playing in a theater sponsored by a cell phone company?" question.

One comment came from Mike Keneally:

Quote
I just played the Nokia couple of nights ago with Dethklok. Unbelievably great stage sound, spectacular monitor system and very capable crew, by far the best sonic experience (from the band's standpoint) of what has so far been a month on the road...if P6 has played there I understand why it would be difficult for Robert and Co. to stay away, because it's incredibly alluring (and extremely rare) for a touring band to hit the stage at soundcheck and feel completely at home within minutes. I understand the questions raised by the original poster, and think that the benefits of the venue likely outweigh the concerns.

I'm going to the Nokia shows on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday nights.

Is there any consensus on a pre-show crim-head gathering place?  I was thinking of the bar at

The Westin New York at Times Square
270 West 43rd Street

There is a good bar on 9th Avenue that has great buffalo wings, and a good selection of cold beer.
Its Dalton's between 43rd and 44th. I'll be there all 4 nights,probably...

I'll be there all four nights and would definitely be up for pre/post show gatherings.  I don't know the area that well, so whatever has been suggested sounds good to me.

That sounds good to me! As good anything I've heard so far, anyway.

So you know the name of the place?

Nevermind, I just saw the link - Dalton's

I'm doing every night but Saturday, and I might even end up doing that as well.

If there were Crimson concerts every night, I would always go.

Sadly, I will not be able to attend the NYC gigs. I have two great tickets for sale at actual cost + ticketbugger fees.

Two tickets, together, for Thursday August 14th, Nokia Center,  NYC, Sec. ORCH, Row PP, right of center.

I have a spare ticket. Don't want it to go to waste, ie, an empty seat....
I paid a good 90 bucks for this ticket, after all the ticketmasterbator charges...
but honestly, if you make me a reasonable offer, it's yours! the seat is 8YY. The show is on Saturday, August the 16th.
pm me if you're interested.

Gonna be driving all the way up from Ottawa, Canada, for this monster! First time seeing them, it's gonna be great!!

anyone have an extra for Saturday night?  I supposedly have a craigslist deal with someone in NYC (I'm in Boston) for a $60 Promenade ticket, but until the ticket is in my hand I'm nervous.  1st Mighty Crim show for me!

"The first piece of music I ever performed publicly was a La Monte [Young] piece. That was in 1967 or '68. It was a repetitive piece, and it remains in my mind as one of my great musical experiences. It really is a cornerstone of everything I've done since."   Brian Eno, 1981
