Well, Owen, you're invited too! I still have something like 5 and a half gallons of tomatoes. There will be more than enough veggie chili to go around.
Plenty of floor space for everyone...BYO sleeping bag!

The word (indirectly) from The Beast himself:
Quote from: P@
when KTU come to the states it will be part of a 4 act package of Finlandish bands, we have decided to go on first to help the technical logistics. . and all bands will only play 30 min shows. there is a possibility that toronto will be 40 min
for the chicago and mexico shows we will pay a full 90 min set.
That settles it. If I can manage to go anywhere, I'm making sure it's Chicago.

You can do a round trip on Southwest from Philly to Midway for about the same price.
Sarah, which airport is better to fly into for this show? I am strongly considering going, but I don't know the Chicago area at all.

I know you asked Sarah, who may give you a different opinion, but I'll pipe in:
If you can save a lot of money, go with whichever that flight takes you to. Otherwise, O'Hare is in a better location, but as it's practically a city in itself, some find it a bit off putting (Midway is a "medium size" airport").
It would probably be easier to get to a hotel from O'Hare (that's a guess).
Finally, as the concert is nowhere near the city center, you'll need transportation of some sort.

Midway is on the Southwest side, while O'Hare is on the Northwest side. The concert venue is in a Northwest suburb, which makes O'Hare the more convenient choice (traffic in and around the city always, ALWAYS sucks).
Public transportation between either airport and a hotel and the venue (and back) may be possible but would be REALLY convoluted (or, via taxi, really expensive), so renting a car is the best option.
If your main objective is comfort, rent a car and get a hotel. If your main objective is taking this trip as cheaply as possible, accomodations at Chez Sazzle are booking up fast, but I still have a very comfy couch available with round-trip car service to the venue and airport (preferably O'Hare).

I'm not going to the show but I hope all who do attend have a glorious time.
Sarah, give Pat a great big kiss for me, won't you? And get a great big warm one for yourself, too!

Unable to maintain my patience any longer, I phoned The Drum Pad just now to inquire about ticket sales. Helpful Phone Dude told me the tickets were not yet back from the printer, but that he would be happy to take my presale order over the phone and mail me the tickets in a couple of weeks or so.
I ordered six tickets (me, Jon, G, the EM, Kram, and Ms. Kram). (Jon: this means you can relax now.
) If it turns out the Krams can't make it up here for the show, perhaps I can pawn that pair of tickets off on somebody else.
Tickets are $15 each. The Drum Pad can be reached at (888) 523-1158.
Nifty Side Note: As I was speaking to him, I could hear a live version of VROOOM playing in the background. When I commented on this, he said the staff were all incredibly excited about the show and that they played Crim in the store all the time.
Yippeee!
